Initial Survey

The complete opposite to a fence panel replacement, if the gravel boards have done their job and kept the existing fence panels out of the wet meaning they still have a good amount of life in them it makes economic sense to reuse them where possible. For this Fencing Chelmsford offers a service to replace one or all of the posts in a fence. We can do this with both wooden and concrete posts and again remove all the waste if necessary. As always to assess safe access and efficient completion a site visit before the works is always advised.

Clearance

If the fence is made of panels we will try to move the panels either side of the post before removing it and if this isn't possible we will sepaprate the fence post from the exisitng fence and prop the fence to make it secure during the works.

Installation

A fence post hole is recommended to be excavated to a width of 300mm to meet British Standards. This creates adequate space to fill with concrete and set the post in place properly so a 150mm radius from the centre of the fence post needs to be cleared. This can create problems if the fence post is adjacent to a drive way or patio and it needs to be disrupted. Normally we can lift a paving slab or work from the neighbour's side if that's acceptable. In examples like driveways made of a pressed pattern in concrete there is no way to remove a small portion and reinstate it seamlessly. In these cases we'll aim to communicate effectively the balance between having a flawless reinstatement after the works are completed and the cost of laying a new driveway just to cover the fence post repair.

Reinstatement

Once the post is in position and has been backfilled we then reattach the existing fence panels and redress the groundworks around the post. As mentioned before this would entail relaying patio slabs and testing any utilities that may have been exposed or worked around during the works.
